The Biology of Wound Healing: Why Timing Matters

Wound healing follows four overlapping phases: hemostasis (0–6 hours), inflammation (1–4 days), proliferation (4–21 days), and remodeling (21 days–2 years). Each phase has distinct biological requirements, and the interventions that help in one phase can actively harm in another. Most people apply their skincare products without any awareness of which phase their wound is in — and that mismatch explains why so many people get unnecessary scarring despite "treating" their wounds.

The Science: What Works and When

Phase 1 — Hemostasis (0–6 Hours): The Only Job Is Stopping Bleeding
